Printing it

Material
PETG / ASA
Minimum wall
1.6 mm

Print outer-face down on the bed. Vanes are self-supporting up to about 45 degrees of rake; above that add supports inside the opening. A bent panel needs supports under its curled ends, or print it face-up with supports in the louvres. Panels over 250 mm exceed a Bambu X1 or Ender bed.

Parameters

Every number this part is generated from. The geometry is built from these rather than scaled from a fixed model, so a value you can measure off your own car is a value you can type in.

Panel

Parameter Range Default What it does
Panel length 120–500 mm 250 mm Across the panel. This direction stays straight when the panel is bent. 250 mm fits a common 256 mm print bed.
Panel width 100–400 mm 200 mm Along the bend.
Panel thickness 3–10 mm 5 mm
Corner radius 3–50 mm 25 mm
Border width 10–60 mm 20 mm Solid margin between the panel edge and the louvre opening. Carries the fastener line.
Bend angle 0–60 deg 0 deg Total arc the panel subtends along its width, so it can sit on a curved hood or fender. 0 is flat. The panel's underside is the reference surface: measure the curvature of the bodywork you are fitting to.

Louvres

Parameter Range Default What it does
Vane count 2–14 6
Vane rake 15–60 deg 35 deg Rake from horizontal. Shallower rakes extract more but sit closer to stalling; steeper rakes are more tolerant but block more area.
Vane thickness 1.6–5 mm 2.4 mm
Cowl height 0–40 mm 12 mm Raised wall around three sides of the opening that releases extracted air rearward. 0 gives a flush panel.

Mounting

Parameter Range Default What it does
Fastener size M4 countersunk · M5 countersunk · M6 countersunk · M8 countersunk M6 countersunk Hole count and spacing are derived from the panel size at a maximum 60 mm pitch.
